Privacy policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
WalletReturn (“WalletReturn”, “we”, “us”) operates walletreturn.ca, a Canadian credit card comparison website. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. We are guided by Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
1. Information we collect
- Information you enter in our tools. Approximate monthly spending by category and preferences (rewards type, annual fee, travel frequency, optional income range, whether you pay your balance in full). You can use Find My Card and the calculators without an account; this information stays in your browser session unless you save it.
- Account information. If you create an account: your email address and sign-in details (handled by our authentication provider), plus any wallet you choose to save (spending profile, saved cards, watchlist, alert preference).
- Outbound click information. When you select a link to a card issuer or partner, we record which card and page it came from, the time, the device type and an anonymous session identifier. If an affiliate link is used, the partner may receive a tracking identifier so the referral can be credited.
- Usage and device information. Pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and similar technical data collected through cookies and analytics tools.
- Messages and sign-ups. The name, email address and message you send through our contact or partner forms, and your email address and consent record if you subscribe to updates.
2. Information we do not collect
We never ask for, and you should never enter, your Social Insurance Number, credit card or bank account numbers, banking passwords or government-issued ID. WalletReturn does not perform credit checks and does not submit applications on your behalf.
3. How we use information
- To provide our comparison tools and calculate estimated values from the information you enter.
- To save and display your wallet if you create an account.
- To measure which pages and links are used, keep the site secure, fix problems and improve our content and data accuracy.
- To report referrals to, and receive compensation from, card issuers and affiliate networks. Compensation never changes the estimated values we calculate.
- To respond to your messages.
- With your express consent only, to send newsletters and offer alerts.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it to make credit or eligibility decisions.
4. Consent
By using WalletReturn you consent to the collection and use of information described in this policy. Where we rely on express consent (for example, marketing emails), we ask for it separately. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; withdrawing some consents may limit features such as saved wallets.
5. Sharing
- Service providers that host the site, authenticate accounts, store data, provide analytics and send email. They may only use the information to provide services to us.
- Card issuers and affiliate networks receive limited referral information (such as a click or tracking identifier) when you follow a link. Once you are on their website, their privacy policies apply.
- Legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect rights, property or safety.
- Business transfers, if WalletReturn is reorganized, sold or merged, subject to this policy.
6. Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information processed in another country is subject to that country’s laws and may be accessible to its courts and authorities.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and comparison selections, understand how the site is used and credit affiliate referrals. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as a result.
8. Email communications
We only send newsletters or offer alerts if you opt in. Every message identifies WalletReturn and includes an unsubscribe link, and we process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Service messages (such as account verification) may be sent regardless of marketing preferences.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Saved wallets are kept until you delete them or close your account. Click and analytics records are kept in identifiable form for no longer than 24 months. Messages are kept until resolved and then for a reasonable period for record-keeping.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and regulators as required by law.
11. Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask how it has been used or shared. Signed-in users can edit or delete saved wallet data directly. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
12. Children
WalletReturn is intended for adults who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
13. Contact and complaints
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for this policy. Contact: privacy@walletreturn.ca or through our contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice on the site.
