About WalletReturn

WalletReturn helps Canadians compare credit cards and savings accounts. Card estimates use your spending; savings interest estimates use your balance and time horizon, with assumptions and conditions shown.

Most credit card marketing tells you what a card could be worth. WalletReturn starts from the other direction: you tell us how you spend, and we estimate what each card may actually be worth to you — rewards, welcome bonuses, relevant benefits and fees included.

How the estimate works

To estimate value, WalletReturn combines:

  • Your spending information across common categories.
  • Each card's reward earn rates and caps.
  • Estimated reward (point or cash) values.
  • Active welcome offers and their estimated value.
  • Annual fees, including first-year fee rebates where offered.
  • Relevant product benefits, counted only where they're likely to be useful to you.

The full formula and its limitations are published in our methodology. The calculation is deterministic — the same inputs produce the same estimated value.

Independent of card issuers

WalletReturn is independent from the credit card issuers whose products appear on the site. We are not a bank, a lender, or a credit card issuer, and we do not approve or decline applications. Approval is always determined by the issuing financial institution under its own criteria.

Transparency on compensation: WalletReturn may earn compensation from financial-product providers or affiliate networks when visitors apply for certain products through links on this site. Compensation does not change the price or terms offered to you, and it does not change our mathematical recommendation calculations. See our divulgation publicitaire for details.

What WalletReturn is not

  • Not individualized financial, legal, or tax advice.
  • Not a guarantee of approval, eligibility, or that any estimated value will be realized.
  • Not a substitute for verifying current terms with the financial institution before applying.
