What is changing with Business Platinum lounge access?

Quick answer

From January 1, 2027, complimentary visits to Plaza Premium and Priority Pass lounges become limited each year. Spending $20,000 on the card in a calendar year unlocks unlimited visits for the rest of that year and all of the next.

Other lounges in the American Express Global Lounge Collection are not part of this change. If you rely on Priority Pass lounges, compare your yearly card spending with the $20,000 threshold.

What happens to the Aeroplan Business Reserve?

Quick answer

Its welcome bonus fell to 90,000 points, and on January 12, 2027 its annual fee rises from $599 to $799, with the supplementary card fee going from $199 to $249. The no-fee supplementary card becomes a $25 Expense Card.

It gains $100 a year in flight benefits, FLY15OFF, Priority Pass visits and Aspire lounge passes. Our Aeroplan fee article compares it with the personal Aeroplan cards.

What should business owners do?

Quick answer

If you were planning to apply for the Business Platinum or Aeroplan Business Reserve, the bonus is smaller now, so check the first-year estimate on the card page at your own spending. Our business card list ranks all 18 cards by first-year value for the spending you enter.
